Forgive But Don't Forget

Here on the internet, Xydexx has been known to get sucked into arguments when people make shit up about him. He's also been known to forgive people when they apologize. And that's the part a lot of folks don't seem to get: If you want forgiveness, you need to apologize.

The simple truth is Xydexx is just this guy who likes roleplaying an inflatable unicorn online. When he's not doing that, Xydexx likes to SPEND TIME OUTSIDE hiking around mountains and riding his bike around. So despite being a bit eccentric but harmless, it's hard to imagine exactly why people freak out about Big Bad Xydexx.

Maybe it's because Xydexx likes getting naked in cyberspace.

My

As I mentioned elsewhere I've been reading Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen to help get me organized and overcome procrastination. One of the suggestions is not to have a "To Do" list but rather a "Next Steps" list. So I thought I'd go through the outstanding items on my list of goals for 2010 and see what next steps need to be taken to make them happen. It's going to be a little more granular than the last.

"Next Steps" for 2010:

  • Bike another 1000 miles this year. Just go out and do it whenever you have and hour or two of free time (leave time to get degrungified afterward). (Also: Recharge batteries in lights. Fix bike helmet.) Find a biking partner (Bicycle Outfitters in Leesburg has a ride scheduled every Tuesday night).
  • Bike from Leesburg, VA to Hawthorne, NY (or an equivalent 300-mile, multi-day bike tour). Buy a tent. Plan route (probably via Harrisburg, PA).
  • Check out the D&L Canal Trail. Bring bike up when traveling to New York.
  • Spend 1 hour on the treadmill 4 nights a week. Do this if home at 7PM (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday), before Rigel gets on the treadmill at 8PM).
  • Finish that 2-page piece of pn0y pr0n that's been languishing in draft form for two years. Find draft copy of pn0y pr0n.
  • Finish artwork for Johnny. Come up with concept artwork.
  • Design something every day (at minimum, make up the days you missed). Updating websites counts. Write minimum 100 words/day.
  • Reduce (eBay) the amount of Stuff I have that's just cluttering up the downstairs storage room (Dragon Magazines, &c.). Take inventory of what exactly needs to go.
  • Move all non-active (not used in 3 months) files out of office/filing cabinet. Gather all clutter in office into one pile and sort. Make a filing/organization system to process incoming papers.
  • Empty closet in guest bedroom. Make room downstairs to put it.
  • Buy a laptop, larger monitor, and (maybe) a color laser printer. Do research and find prices on all of the above. What kind of laptop do I use for work?
  • Adjust sleep schedule enough to be able to take 15 minutes to eat breakfast before leaving for work. Start going to bed the same time Rigel does.

2010 Goals:
  1. Exercise more (ongoing). Bike another 1000 miles this year. Bike from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh, PA (Amended: or an equivalent 300-mile, multi-day bike tour). Check out the D&L Canal Trail. Spend 1 hour on the treadmill 4 nights a week.
  2. Procrastinate less. Finish that 2-page piece of pn0y pr0n that's been languishing in draft form for two years. Finish artwork for Johnny. Design something every day (at minimum, make up the days you missed).
  3. Get more organized. Continue to reduce (eBay) the amount of Stuff I have that's just cluttering up the downstairs storage room (Dragon Magazines, &c.). Move all non-active (not used in 3 months) files out of office/filing cabinet. Empty closet in guest bedroom.
  4. Computer stuff. Sell/recycle old Windows 98 machine. Buy a laptop, larger monitor, and (maybe) a color laser printer.
  5. Eat breakfast. Adjust sleep schedule enough to be able to take 15 minutes to eat breakfast before leaving for work.
Status To Date:
  1. Exercise more (ongoing). Behind schedule on biking! I am at 543 miles YTD. This time last year I was at 585 miles. I have not yet gone on 300+ mile bike tour (amended to potential Leesburg-to-NY trip, since I have no actual destination in mind for Pittsburgh). Have not yet checked out D&L Canal Trail. Have not used treadmill.
  2. Procrastinate less. Have not finished pn0y pr0n or any artwork in my queue. I do dabble in maintaining/redesigning my websites, so that sort of counts, but not for much.
  3. Get more organized. The last time I sold anything on eBay was last October. Filing cabinet is cleaned out (but I have about a year's worth of filing backed up that needs to be filed). Guest bedroom closet still not cleaned out.
  4. Computer stuff. Windows 98 machine recycled. Have not bought laptop, larger monitor, or color laser printer.
  5. Eat breakfast. I do this when I'm working from home, sometimes.

I may be crazy, but at least I'm the silly kind of crazy, not the nutjob kind of crazy. I mean, who in their right mind celebrates the ten-year anniversary of a train wreck like Burned Fur? Delusional people, that's who.

More Squeaks From Xydexx

I would have gone biking today, except I couldn't decide where to go, and it was a bit on the cool side. They predicted 60 degree weather, but it barely got to that, so I ended up hanging around indoors the whole day. I baked some chocolate chip cookies at least. They are yummy and good.

We'll see how the weather holds up tomorrow. The forecast is 64 degrees with a shower. Bah. Thursday is supposed to be very nice, though... 73 degrees but mostly cloudy.

There are a few places I could go. I'm thinking of checking out Brunswick, MD. It would be 48 miles round trip.
